Hi - Been lurking and reading the site for a while, but finally bitten the bullet and joined up! We've moved from Warwickshire to Wales (Powys - Only just over the Shropshire border) this year and have a 10 acre smallholding.
Only just got around to getting some stock and have two 12 month old Angus heifers destined for the freezer next year, though don't tell them that! We've just got our first Devon heifer who forms the basis of our small pedigree Ruby Red herd we're starting, and are getting 3 more heifers later in the year... Also got 10 sheep, 9 ducks, 4 dogs and a cat that's no bigger than a kitten but is 12 months old!
We're mid-renovation of the house, though hopefully finish the upstairs this week - As we have our first baby due on 1 November... So not too much going on!!!
Looking forward to reading more and getting advice and information from fellow smallholders!
Thanks for reading,
Nina

Hi and welcome from the Scottish Borders  Would love to have cattle but have too many horses.

Hi Nina - good luck with the renovations, hope it all goes well - we only have a place half your size but then I'm not brave enough for cattle - settling for sheep and goats so it's fine for us - have fun, Clare

OOoohh! renovations, remember it well! Our renovations lasted 5 years. Then we sold it and bought something smaller!!! We're in Wales too, but further up in the north. Welcome to the site!

Thanks everyone for the welcomes (And Warwickshire isn't that bad... Just too bloomin' expensive!!!)
I've always found cattle far easier than sheep - They don't have the lifelong desire to die for starters! But a few of each for now and we'll see how we go...
