Title: when to cover up?
Post by: northfifeduckling on September 16, 2010, 08:29:38 pm
as it suddenly has started going quite cold - when should I cover up courgettes and lettuces? I've not been around during the last few days, so can't really say if there are still insects around to pollinate... :&>

I check with the BBC online forecast for our area each day to see if it's likely to be frosty at night.  I cover with fleece for the night and take it off again in the day - daytime temps can be quite hot when it's very cold at night.  It shouldn't be cold enough to need to cover plants during the day too for a bit longer.
