Silly question really but...local farmer keeps 14 tups of various breeds in the paddock next to ours. Currently I have my 5 soppy pet sheep happily munching away but do I need to worry that the tups will suddenly realise that my ewe's could be up for some fun? the fencing (owned by neighbour) is OK but I don't think it would keep a randy ram out! Just thinking... breeding season is approaching isn't it?
-
:sheep: :sheep: :sheep: :sheep: :sheep: Yes, and yes ;D :sheep: :sheep: :sheep: :sheep: :sheep: :sheep: :sheep: :sheep: :sheep: :sheep: :sheep: :sheep: :sheep: :sheep:

That's pretty much what I thought!! Luckily 3 of my :sheep: :sheep: :sheep: :sheep: :sheep: are boys! (castrated ones) but they'll be picked on won't they (the entire rams might call them names and stuff.)
MIght need to move paddocks then ;D
-
I have the opposite dilemma ... my 1 ram and 4 ram lambs in a field next door to my neighbours welsh mountain girls (although they are a bit manky so I'm hoping my boys have better taste! ;) ). I'm thinking one more week or two them move them elsewhere.
-
Plums - not only can the tups jump in and the ewes jump out, but they can do the biz through the fence too :o :o . Also tups aren't fussy about the sex of what they're humping - so your little lads need to watch out too  ;D
-
I've had rams break down stock fencing to get at ewes, so Id move em pretty soon...
-
now fleecwife sheep sex through a fence that must be getting near the imaculate conception :roflanim: :roflanim: do tell us more :farmer:
-
Have read that you need double fencing between ewes and rams because of this.
Can't quite imagine how they manage it :o :eyelashes:

We've had lambs conceived using this method ::) . Always have to be careful using the barrier method ;D not always 100% reliable

Oh Help! I have my ram in paddock in middle of field with my ewes batting their eyelids at them. Presumed they were safe with the stock fence. How on earth can they manage it through the fence??!!
Meanwhile, my randy ram lamb is trying to hump all the slaughter lambs in another field! Going to give him some girlies to play with this weekend before he goes to his new home next month.
-
Well, on the moorland farm we kept the tups in the next field to the ewes for two-three weeks before tupping, so that the girls had their fancies tickled and would all be cycling when the tups were let in. We never had any "failures of the barrier method" (love that! :roflanim:) - and I'm talking 450+ ewes over a period of several years, with only a single-thickness of stock fence between them - plus 20 feet of galvanised gate that you'd have thought might offer 'opportinities' to diligent suitors! ;)
So I think that one must be breed dependent. Maybe those Hebs, Soays and so ons are just a little more agile and determined than our Swaledales, Mules, Texels and Blue-faced Leicesters!
-
Yes they're sexy ladies :eyelashes: I think it requires the ewe to reverse up to the fence and the tup to use his ingenuity. We haven't seen the deed itself but we have seen the results :sheep: :sheep: 8) I can't believe what this forum makes me write ::) :o :tired:

Today I have to spend the day making my lady sheep look unattractive to the rambo's next door. I shall draw a 'tache and armpit hair on them with purple spray, that should do it.
Failing that, I shall phone the farmer and ask him politely when he is shifting his boys and try and keep the worried tone from my voice.
-
this has caused much hilarity in our house it may well be breed dependant or fence type dependant but for two posters that i know to come on and support this idea it puts a whole new meaning to gouping for it :roflanim: :farmer:
no plums that wont work there was a colored singer years ago gave an interview and he explained that with the groupies he looked for the ugliest one he knew they were not getting it and made the better lovers as it would be ages before they would be getting it again :roflanim:

My OH always says marry an ugly one ............ :-[

Very funny!!! I also have a field full of big boys next to my first timers, with a rubbish fence inbetween. Im torn - on the one hand it could solve my tup hire dilema (AND make the farmer replace that fence as promised last year!), on the other hand I want a Beulah tup, not hill speckle face..... decisions decisions
-
I am fortunate now in that my neighbour's girls have been moved on. Hoorah.
I can't believe that sheep can do it through the fence! Are you sure they aren't just jumping over and jumping back?
On another note, (sorry this is a bit rude, so I didn't want to make a new thread of it :-[ ) ...
I've noticed recently that some of my ram lambs have started crouching their back ends and sticking out their doo-dars, and erm well, some liquid comes out (not much) ...... This isn't something I've ever seen them do in previous years, unless they've all gone to the butcher earlier in the year or developed later, dunno. Is this a good sign, in terms of "readiness to work"?
-
foobar this is masturbation i have seen it in bulls and boars they have sexual desires the same as humans i am not convinced about sex through the fence jumping over the fence is more believable a good subject for the beer tent at westmoorland though cameras will be banned but audience participation will be welcome :roflanim:
-
Ahh well, good-o, as I hope to sell one of them once I get around to taking some photos...
Sorry for lowering the tone of this thread!! ;D
-
I've kept my rams next to my girls for many years and never had any between the wire sexy stuff going on. Maybe i've been lucky! my boys on the other hand reguarly shag the water trough and each other. :roflanim: just boys being boys.
-
I can just imagine someone producing some photo's of their ram lamb masturbating in order to show they were fertile. :o
-
:roflanim: not the sort of photos that I had had in mind!
Shaggin troughs and other sheep I could understand, but suddenly dropping their back ends mid stride almost was a bit of a surprise. :)

:roflanim:
But they can still fire blanks.... one year my Shetland tup was away at summer grazng and came back infertile.. he was all over the girls ( twice ! and after removing him from the field his wether companion was the next best thing, so to speak...)

You can get ewe panties (in various colours) to prevent tupping.
Just ask at your local feed store (Top shelf usually)

Just don't get the pink ones for your wethers.... they may need therapy...
-
Please tell me you are joking about the panties??!!! Hilarious thought. I don't think my girls would be at all impressed! :roflanim: :roflanim: :roflanim:
-
Didn't they used to stitch the wool together over the ewes vagina to stop them being tupped, then cut it open when they were to be tupped?
-
Just caught up with this thread.... what a laugh, talk about pervy....
Plums, can wait to hear about you buying "ewe panties"...... even better trying to get the ruddy things on them :roflanim: :roflanim: :roflanim: :roflanim: video please (18 rating....with a cheesy soundtrack :roflanim: ).

:roflanim: love it!! So far rambo's showing no interest in my sheep :relief: they are very lazy boys (conserving energy for autumn I presume!!) always asleep (keep thinking they are dead)

Very interesting thread.
I actually work in sexual health, so this will just add to my professional standing.
However, I am very concerned that nobody has mentioned condoms for tups.
I don't see why the ewes have to take all the responsibility.

now fleecwife sheep sex through a fence that must be getting near the imaculate conception :roflanim: :roflanim: do tell us more :farmer:
Horrifyingly enough tis true! I have witnessed it myself.
What has been seen, sadly cannot be unseen :tired:
A ewe will back up to a fence where the ram is if she wants him badly enough and if he can get his legs through the fence everything else can line up.....
Like i have always said, where there's a will(y) there's a way.
We need a vomiting icon
-
two types of fencing here rylock if properly erected is impenetrable if it is loosly strung betwean posts then maybe but it would be easier to go under or over if the fence were that slack
plain wire fences are alright for cattle but sheep just go through them again if the fence wires are loose it is easier to go through under or over high tensile wire fences now there is a possibility one thing getting the penis through another getting the legs through but what about the front shoulders and the head
and as i have said before both would need to be gouping for it and the most of the copulation goes unseen either twilight or first thing in the morning :farmer:
-
Inpenetrable??
Neither a ram's legs nor his penis are bigger than the gaps in sheep fencing regardless of how tightly strung.
It didn't look comfortable (head flung back and front legs on the the fence) and could have been downright dangerous but he got his quick jump in and was away in moments. The ewe was also looking very pleased with herself.
This was sheep netting, don't know what brand strung tightly between wooden posts.
Neither shoulders nor head were through the fence, and I dare say unless the ewe had been the slapper she was 99.999999999999% of the time he wouldn't have managed anything but this time he did and I was there to witness it, mores the pity. He was a young ram though so probably bendier than most. :-J
-
All this talk of unseen bonking has me really worried now!! No wonder they all look like they are fast asleep on the ram's side and my ewes are increasingly smug - they've been at it for hours while I'm fast a kippy. Oh well...we shall see in about 5 months time...........
-
this gets more impossible the longer it goes on that young tup would need to be standing on its hind legs in a vertical plane and can balance in this vertical plane the penis being bendier i have heard of them being broken esp in bulls but never witnessed this more to the point did that ewe or sheep slapper conceive to that tup on that date :farmer:
-
Robert my love just because you havent had it happen doesnt mean it isn't possible. No it isn't normal everyday way for sheep to mate but we have had it and it happened the same way as has been described. Ewes that are gagging for it can be determined little buggers to have it. It was my mother in laws ewe who lambed and it was definately at that service because they were moved after it happened into a field that tups couldnt get to.
After a pint or two at Wesrmorland I'll convince you its true ;D
-
this i am looking forward to Jodie angles heights and stance will all be discussed :roflanim:
-
I dont know if stuart has ever told you i am always right ;D. More so with enough drink. I will bring you a drawn diagram with angles and measurements :D. See you there :-*

I assure you she was the only ewe among her flock to not get a raddle mark when the boys were put in so I assume she did conceive at that point.
I only relax now when there are 2 fences between my sheep and someone else's ram ;)
I am not generally in the habit of inventing ovine porn Robert I promise you it happened! :-*
-
Jodie has Lillian never told you that that is my only falling always right ;)
colliewoman if it were not for the porn neither the animals or us would be here today :farmer:

K stop it now, I'm at work and keep sniggering :roflanim: :roflanim:
i shall be getting in trouble soon :innocent:

I would just like to announce I have managed to convince Robert Waddell that myself, Fleecewife and Colliewoman are all right when we say that tups can get ewes in lamb through a fence ;D .
It isn't often said from Roberts mouth so I thought it needed logging in words for all to see :excited: .
We were right, Robert was wrong and he accepts it :D . (well he doesn't accept it) however he is willing to allow us to be right.
Well done Robert ;D :-* a huge step for mankind ;) :roflanim:
I await the response.....

sorry Jodie did not convince me the rylock turned out to be the half height ones that you can get not full 800 mm high although Jodie was getting a bit uptight at not winning the debate
and yes Jodie went into great detail with the sheep fornication act it was good to watch and listen with Jodie :roflanim: :farmer:
