Title: Running a business from land
Post by: Thebarber on May 29, 2016, 10:04:41 pm
Hi,
Do I need permission to run a business from my small holding?
My wife previously rented a shed in a garden centre which is due to close and is finding it hard to get a replacement venue.
The obvious solution would be to run her business from our land.
Any advice appreciated
Cheers

I have friends who run a small business from their holding. I could ask them if you like.

I understand you said 'kids play area' ....  if you are having visiting children then yes I would think there will be lots of hoops to jump through .....  planning /health and safety for starters.

My wife spoke to planning & they'd rather we didn't was the feeling she got.
On the plus side he commented on the good access which makes me think the door isn't shut.
She's quite savvy on risk assessments & is already insured with running out of the previous place.
At the moment she's unemployed when there is a business waiting to happen.
To get going I'd need a bit more  hard standing for parking & build the shed similar to the previous one so no big deal other than getting the nod from officials.
