If you are using a three reel system, unreel one strand at a time and tie each into the final end post in turn. Don’t pull out all three strand at the same time (even if you know which is top, middle and bottom) to cut down how many circuits of the field you have to walk. If you do there is a liklihood that the strands will wrap themselves around each other resulting in a few disheartening hours unravelling them again. You probably know this already. So do I.

Another tip: When your mate tells you he's already turned off the energizer, always double check which of the two energizers he was talking about.
I learned this lesson almost instantly.

I was in a reservoir checking an electric fence to keep rhinocerous in an area (https://www.agrisellex.co.uk/blogs/blog/biggest-shock-from-an-electric-fence) when my brother switched it on - I nearly fried.
