Title: frozen gammon, eat or not?
Post by: lunanlife on January 25, 2011, 07:12:49 pm
i just found a gammon that i cured over a year ago in a beer cure in the oh parents freezer. I took it out and defrosted it and am cooking it now. There was no smell from the ham but it was a really dark colour! Anybody think it will b safe to eat?

If it smells okay I'd be tempted to have a taste and see (but I was brought up by a father who "laughs in the face of best before dates" ;))
Might just be dark because of the beer cure ?

Forgot to reply to this! We had the gammon, not now but when I originally posted, ha ha! It tasted pretty good probably better but I don't want to brag about the curing!! Thanks for the advice.
