Hi all, having recently taken delivery of our fox red lab pup we're keen to train him right. Later on we plan to look into classes etc but for now, any recommendations for a good basic gundog training book to begin moving in the right direction from the start

Here are some good basic gundog training books?

Remember that the different gundog groups need slightly different and in some aspects specialist training - Setters and Pointers; Retrievers; Spaniels; HPRs

We have three fox red labs! Enjoy!

I love the Pippa Mattinson (Mattison?) books. Look for positive training rather more traditional methods - a well bred lab shouldn't need anything aversive, just clear instruction.

weve gone for a well bred individual and hope if we don't mess him up he'll be a cracker, like both his parents and other family members
