Title: gundog training books ?
Post by: devonlad on July 05, 2016, 10:35:02 am
Hi all, having recently taken delivery of our fox red lab pup we're keen to train him right. Later on we plan to look into classes etc but for now, any recommendations for a good basic gundog training book to begin moving in the right direction from the start

Remember that the different gundog groups need slightly different and in some aspects specialist training - Setters and Pointers; Retrievers; Spaniels; HPRs

I love the Pippa Mattinson (Mattison?) books.   Look for positive training rather more traditional methods - a well bred lab shouldn't need anything aversive, just clear instruction.
