Title: Dag or not
Post by: Twotwo on May 24, 2016, 04:47:14 pm
Two of my 5 ewes have mucky bums ( they have just moved on to a new paddock with richer grass and a very low FWC) they were done with clikzin 3 weeks ago and are due to be shorn sometime in the next 10 days. Should I dag them or leave alone as the clikzin should be in their fleeces. I have seen flies around them but no sign of any strike. They are Dorset Downs so very woolly.

If clikzined then shouldn't get strike.  However you will need to clean up days before shearing.

For the sake of the shearer and the fleeces, I'd dag.

Not so with both clik and clikzin  eggs can be laid and maggots hatch but they should be deformed ,  they are INSECT GROWTH REGULATORS .           yes you should dag less attractive to flies and much better for the shearer

Ok will dag today, it's only that the clixzin info it says you should reapply if you dag and I was concerned for shearer if I put more clixzin on, i will speak to him first
