Title: FEC Cattle
Post by: Faye.Lear on January 25, 2024, 10:43:25 am
Hello all,

We now have a herd of 23. Mixed ages, how many samples would I need to send off for the lab to carry out worm and fluke counts?

I presume they need to be collected in separate pots?

Thanks in advance!

I'd ask my vet, if I was you.

Normally pool similar age groups together, unless you’ve any concerns with a specific animal. Your vet should be able to do egg counts which should be cheaper than the lab, although fluke can be harder to detect on egg counts as only mature fluke will be shedding eggs.
