Title: Probably a stooopid question, but.....

Do you need to inform anyone official about the arrival of lambs?
Or do you just order their tags and record them in your flock register?

Flock register and tags - breed society if you are so inclined.  :)

breed society if you are so inclined.  :)

So what about pedigree animals you don't intend to register?  We now have three wee Zwartble boys running around who are all destined for the freezer.

Should they be birth notified, or do the breed society only care about breeding stock?

I think it depends on the breed soc.  Sorry I don't know about the zwartbles, but someone will.

For Hebrideans, all births are notified, even still births.  This is because the society keeps statistics on prolificacy, survival and registration rates, so needs to record every lamb born.

Thanks all. Their mums are not registered so no need for Breed register.
Regarding my obligation to post pics on TAS- promise I'll do this tomorrow  ;)
