My ewe lambs get named A-Z every year but I'm really struggling with the more unusual letters now, not just Q, U, V, X, Y and Z, but F and K and the like. I've run through wild flowers, trees, semi-precious stones, human names and so on. Just started on this year's list and seeking inspiration from any of you imaginative folks out there.

Just use all our log in names, I'll start I'm
A for Alistair
Who's next then -anyone got a B?
-
backinwellies ..... bit of a mouthfull for calling though!!!
-
Fruit and veg? Countries? The 25th word under each letter in the dictionary - could end up with some rather obscure names....
-
We have a friend who is a geologist so every one of his sheep is named after a rock - they get more and more obscure each year ;D
I have done the flowers thing, herbs, rivers, place names in Shetland, place names in UK, place names all over the world, old battle ships (some good ones there), steam locomotives, famous women in history, characters in books (I think our reg sec likes to identify which book I've been reading :D ), specialist spinning words, types of antelope (my favourite was Kudu), heavens, the list is endless. I have the advantage though that I don't do the alphabet thing, just the theme. Sometimes buyers want to choose the names themselves which would disrupt an alphabetic sequence. Sometimes my tups have different types of names to the ewes, in fact they usually seem to name themselves. If they are of a good line then I usually carry the name on eg Tam has had offspring called Tam Lynn, Tam's Brig, Wee Tam, Tam O'shanter, Jock Tamson's Bairn - you get the picture. Sometimes I do it with ewes so Bracken had a daughter Fern, Jezebel had a daughter Scarlett, Freia had Freda, Freya, Freyalyn, Annie had Annette, Anita, Anwen, etc.
There's still pop groups, marques of car, trees, stars and constellations, oh many more.
OK I'll shut up ;D
 Now I wonder what names I'll choose for this year

Its got to be Bionic
-
Sorry Sally I got to 'B' first!!!!!
-
FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT :excited:
can't wait till we get to C
-
but alphabetically bionic comes before backinwellies and lets face it bionic sounds pretty super for a pedigree name :roflanim:
All the B's could start with bionic e.g. bionic superstar, bionic woman, bionic maisy etc etc. Hmmm, can't wait until the Ryelands get round to B again. I could have some fun with that one

Our Herd Name is KushtiBok which is Romany for 'good luck'. The idea is to carry on using gypsy inspired names for the offspring we already have 'vanna' (short for savannah but loosely translated is a pretty wagon!) because we only have a couple of females we shoudl be ok to manage with a few gypsy names (paddy doherty, esmerelda, chavvy, mush....) ;D

What dictionary are you using, Sally? They both begin with b so go to the second letter. In the alphabet I was taught, a comes before i. :roflanim:

Thanks Mad .... was wondering :innocent:

Edited To hope it isn't 'B' or there will be pitch forks at Dawn :innocent:
