Just been clearing some old papers out (2004!) Had to share this,
Scientists found that if they painted the face of Wasps to make it look like the wasp of a higher status it gets beaten up by the other Wasps.
I did check the date of the paper, not April 1st, and it does sounds rather a cruel experiment :) .
I wonder how much scientists were paid and what was gained by It?

Most likely it gets beaten up because it looks different, possibly smells different too, not because of its supposed status.

And how on earth do you paint a wasp's face anyway?? :thinking:
