Title: Goat eating chicken eggs??!!
Post by: Bumblebear on April 01, 2013, 10:23:00 am
IS this usual or healthy?  A couple of hens insist on laying in the goat shelter and Ashia has some suspicious yellow stuff all over her mouth.......

Ah, yes can happen. Won't cause the goat any harm! Only trouble is you are missing out on egg.......

If we have loads of eggs, we sometimes mix in a raw egg with the kids milk, so definitely no harm.

Traditional recipes for replacement colostrum have egg in it...

Only problem is shells and "egg smells" will attract rats/badgers/foxes...

We had a polish bantam went through a spell where she would only lay in one of the goats buckets in the goat shed, once she came off cackling the race was on to get to the egg before Cherry as she would eat them
