Title: older cat, heat lamp?
Post by: claire on October 20, 2014, 10:51:35 am
I have one particular elderly cat who would like to be warm all the time.. but not really possible in the caravan.
does anyone have any ideas i.e. thinking of a heat lamp.. but are they too expensive to run / safety issues in the caravan?

also creating a warm space ... it would have to be big enough to fit three... lol

there are heat pads that plug in, and also heat reflective pads, available.

We had a heat pad for Copper - she and Homer did use it. It switches off automatically after 3 hours or something. I've brought it out for our current cats and they're not interested, not even Felix. I've also bought a fleecy thing that goes over the radiator - no takers at all.

You're welcome to the pad we've got. It has a fleecy cover that you can take off and wash.

I have a friend who keeps naked cats (and lots of others)  The naked cats live inside a big fluffy duvet, above and below, and look as cosy as pie  :cat: :cat:

Hi Claire,

I don't have any cat-heat solutions, but I have just spotted that you're 'near Auchterarder'.  We're in Trinity Gask at the moment.  Are you close by?

oh i like the relflective heat idea, and heating up a bean bag. she is ok with the igloo at the moment, but  the others want in it too... so either a huge igloo or another two to be purchased.

I haven't heard of Trinity Gask, i will look it up, i am a mile down the Braco road from Gleneagles golf course

Agreed - the whole point of cats is to be stroked, and for that they need lovely fur.  Not nice to most folk, but she loves them.

I love Sphynx cats and would love one one day, but then again I love Chinese crested dogs and I have hairless Guinea Pigs
We have a couple of heated dog beds that the cats sometimes use but they really prefer the Snuggle safe heat pads that you heat in the Microwave
