Got our first chickens today :excited:
is it normal to keep on wanting to go out and look at them? :-J

You can't help yourself, you are hooked for life now. Nice isn't it?

and just wait till you get your first egg - I got so excited about the first one we got that you would have thought that I had laid it myself ;D
It was tiny and my OH and I shared it - 1 teaspoon each :roflanim: :roflanim:

and dried mealworms - they will follow you around like puppies! My hens come running across the garden as soon as they hear the car pull in to the drive and spend ages outside the back door hoping we will come out and chat to them! I find my 9 girls so entertaining - the only downside is that I can't walk around barefoot on the grass anymore come summer time :-J

Actually it gets worse the longer you have them. You gradually get to recognise their individual personalities and end up talking to them! :innocent:

I recognise all the above madness since we got ours 2 years ago :innocent:
Our first egg was boiled and split between 4 not before photos were taken and sent to family ;D
Still stand watching their little ways

We spent a lovely evening yesterday sitting in the enclosure with our chickens watching them. With a bottle of cheap french wine for sustenance obviously! Had them for 6 years now and the novelty is far from wearing off Nicandem. They are highly evolved creatures and worth studying closely. They all have different characters and all breeds speak different languages but are universally understood. We have a lot to learn from them.
