We kidded our 1st kid at 9am this morning, a little grey and white billy.
We are keeping a close eye on him as its cold and mum doesnt feel like she has any milk althugh he has been suckling.
I will upload phots soon
-
Make sure you put him onto the teat if he doesn't do it himself. If not, milk some colostrum out from mum and give it to him in the bottle. Especially if it is a first kidder they are sometimes a bit slow....
-
It took him a good hour but he has been suckling on and off since then.
Ive left them to it now, will check on them around 2pm
-
checked on them at 1:30 and again at 3:15 and he was feeding both times, so I feel a bit calmer now.
As he is our 1st ever, its a bit traumatic! :-\

Here is gizmo

That's good, I didn't realise it's a pygmy you have... milking out could be a bit of a challenge :) . Very cute though...

Super cute congratulations,

Awe, they are great, really, love mums beardy, she is really pretty, well done - we are hopeful for one/some being born in May.
-
Well done!!! He looks very nice!!!
-
Well done Firemansam and pygmy mum - a very nice wee lad
-
What a sweetie.
-
He is very sweet  - and so is mum ;D
If he's sucking well, and seems well and isn't crying, then she's got the colostrum/milk he needs. Little kids don't take that much at a time in the first few days.

Lord I'm tempted by goats when I see all these baby pics at this time of year. They're SO gorgeous.
-
Aww.... lovely. Once they get some milk in them they can cope with the cold. Ours kidded couple of years ago in December - the following night was the coldest on record. Must admit I was worried, but kids were fine

Gizmo 1 day old, obviously he will be looking for a new home in the future

He is ridiculously cute

Congratulations to you and well done mum.
