They were cooking cawl in the local pub for St David's day. The pub owner also lives on the local farm. She was preparing the soup on a table in the pub and all the ingredients were sitting side by side. All veggies and some ham. She told the presenter to top and tail the carrots and put the waste into a bin at the side of the table for the pigs. Isn't this illegal?

I missed that bit Sally but, yes, it's against the law to feed any scraps which come out of the kitchen to pigs, in case of contamination.
Keep up Countryfile. ;D
-
I saw that too and remarked at the time I hoped Animal Health weren't watching!
-
I commented on this on the thread already running about countyfile ................ I couldn't believe my ears!!
-
They really need to fess up to their ignorance and make a statement on the very next programme clearing this up. Very poor show from the BBC.

I have sent them an email and asked them to do just that

I don't understand how the pigs' owner didn't know about that rule. Mind you, most of the wheelbarrows in the pig yard were pink .....?

but someone on the other thread said it wasn't illegal because the scraps were not from a kitchen but from a bar ???
Who is correct?
-
Still illegal. The bar is a catering establishment just the same.
