The weather is warming up and it's nearly that time of year again so I thought I would take this chance ( on a day off ) to say that if anyone is wanting me for the 2011 season, I am available and I am working my routes out now so please get in touch to let me know when you would like.

do you do somerset and how much for seven?
-
Somerset also....you can shear mine again!
-
Hi,
To do it as a one off would be quite expensive. £30 minimum charge plus cost of travel from South Yorkshire but if I can find a few more jobs in your area then it would bring the price down to something more realistic.
Could you tell me the nearest town to you?
Thanks,
Philip :sheep:
-
stroud, glos for 1.5 !! one is shedding already, please

stroud, glos for 1.5 !! one is shedding already, please
Of course, I will contact the other customers in your area and get back to you with an idea of a day.
Somerset also....you can shear mine again!
Woolyshepherd,
Sorry I don't think I have sheared yours before.
Thanks,
Philip :sheep:

Adam Pitts is your man for Somerset. 07855 841320 - He does a great job, really professional but takes the extra time. Give him a call and tell him he owes me!!!!
The bugger won't do my sheep now that I have hundreds to do!
Val - Adam did yours last year!
Singing shearer - how is my beautiful kelpie - I was only thinking about her today!
-
Hi Freddie,
He won't shear for you as you have too many??? :o
If you are stuck then I can always try to fit you in ;) how many have you got?
By the way Blue is doing very well although she hasn't seen a sheep in a while ( but she is keen on the ducks)
-
You are right....twas Adam! I am going senile!!!! Sorry Phillip!!!
Freddie ....have mangled cheque for you in van....will drop off tomorrow :-[
-
Woolyshepherd,
Don't worry about it ;D.
I am coming down to Gloucestershire a few times in the season so Somerset is no problem for me if anyone does need me.
-
Hi, do you do shearing lessons?? I did my own last year very unconventionally. Could do with a bit of help and a couple are a nightmare (Southdown x).
Anyway if around Pewsey, WIltshire (SN9) later this month I would like to do mine. That's if they haven't melted before then. They are panting quite bad at moment but it's so cold at night daren't risk doing too soon.
-
Hi ScotsGirl,
I can teach people but it would cost a lot to come down to you as it is not an area that I have many jobs in, have you seen my video on You Tube? It might help you out a bit.
I am shearing some Hampshire Down on Wednesday so I could try to video one whilst talking you through it if that would help.
Thanks,
Philip :sheep:
-
Thank you Freddie
-
Back to the original post, anyone needing me to shear your sheep please get in touch I will shear any size flock large or small and depending on the setup I can shear up to 200 sheep a day.
Also as the song goes "I've never slummed a pen my lads whatever it might contain"
Thanks,
Philip :sheep:

Philip
I have about 300 to do, although they are in different groups so could do something like ewes with doubles on day, singles the next and ewe lambs thrown in on the end!
If anyone wants works experience around shearing time I would never refuse some help!
-
Hi Freddie,
Only 300 ;D, if you do need me then could you let me know soon so I can save a couple of days for you.
I can come if you want me to but I am booking up very quickly and I don't want to leave anyone out.
Thanks,
Philip :sheep:
-
If you've got plans to come to East Anglia (Bungay, on the Norfolk Suffolk border) I've got two little Shetlands that need an expert trim.
I don't think I could justify your travelling costs if it's just my two though :-[
mab

Hi Mab,
I am planing on shearing Dixie's sheep in Essex sometime the second week in may so I could shear them then if that suits you, if so I have a job in Cambridgeshire that I will have to shear on the way down but that's no problem.
Will pm you with price.
Thanks,
Philip :sheep:
-
Hi Philip, I have PM you but just to be sure I thought I'd say a big yes to having the girls done on here too ;D I have just told them they are going to have a new hair cut and they looked very excited, well as excited as a Ryeland can look ::)
-
Hi Wellies,
Ryelands can look very excited believe me ;D, I have put you down so see you then.
Thanks,
Philip :sheep:

Hi ScotsGirl,

I will get back to you with a date as soon as I know.
Thanks,
Philip :sheep:

Hi SS
we will have 4 longwools (2 ewes and 2 old lambs...nearly shearlings ;)) to do soonish, we are near grantham just off A1. (No longer in Norfolk as have moved)
New to sheep and shearing, so have not had to shear before. As you menitioned LLs on your site I was going to contact you for your availability in this area.
Would you be able to fit us in?
-
Hi NN,
I would happily come as I have a job near Sleaford so it isn't too far, when would be best for you? I think my job at Sleaford want ASAP but we are having van troubles at the moment.
Thanks,
Philip :sheep:
-
Hello Philip from Scotland!! Would you be willing to come back and help me out again this year ? I should have 18/20 to do and sometime in june would be a good ?
-
Hi Birkb,
Yes I will have a look and see when I can do, when in June is best for you?
Thanks,
Philip :sheep:
-
One more for Somerset (Wincanton) if you can fit me in? 10 Portlands (9 ewes and 1 Ram). Conflicting advice on my lambs but I don't think they need doing this year as they were born late Jan? Thoughts?
-
Hello Captain,
Should be able to fit you in all being well, as for your lambs they will be fine until next year.
Will pm you later with a price.
Thanks,
Philip :sheep:
-
SS do you venture in to Kent ME9 i only have two to do.
-
Hi Shawn,
Sadly no I don't have any jobs in Kent so at the moment I wouldn't be able to get, sorry.
Thanks,
Philip :sheep:
-
Hi there. As a newbie to shearing - ours were pre-done when we got the house (with the sheep last year) I wanted to make sure rather than wait to see if you had enough to come down so have gone for Adam as he is local. Thank you for the thread though. It is interesting.
-
Hi Shearling,
I would have come down but as it was a long way thought you wouldn't want to pay the travel cost so thought it would be best seeing if I could get a few jobs down there to bring the price down.
Glad you are sorted but if you need me for any reason then please get in touch.
Thanks,
Philip :sheep:
-
Hi ScotsGirl, The Captain and Norfolk Newbies, I have just pmed you, hope it helps.
Thanks,
Philip :sheep:
-
Hi Philip
Would you be able to squeeze in another 6 in Gloucestershire at some point?
Thanks
Hen
-
Hi Philip
I have 4 dartmoor ewes, a mongrel hogget and a mad black ewe that may have a lot of welsh in her here on the border of Herts and Bedfordshire. They have all been suffering from the heat in recent days and we were going to take the plunge and do them ourselves, in whatever fashion we can. However, if you can fit us in you could be saving the poor things a very nasty experience. Postcode AL5.
Thanks
-
re: shearing in scotland. anytime in june to suit you. do you still have my email address from last year ? if not i will email you direct and we can agree date/terms etc.
thanks again.
-
Hen - should be no problem, I haven't got a firm date for when I'm coming down yet so will have to ring round the customers in that area but will keep you updated.
Daisy - If I can find enough customers within a reasonable travelling distance that want early shearing, I will come.
I'm waiting for some replies to emails so will be in touch as soon as possible.
birkb - Yes, I've got your email. June is good. Will contact you.
-
Hi Wellies,
Was lovely meeting you and a pleasure to shear your sheep.
Thanks,
Philip :sheep:
-
Great to meet you and your family too. The girls are very pleased with their hair cuts ;D Hopefully see you again next year
-
Hi Wellies,
Glad your girls are happy ;D, will put you down for next year.
Thanks,
Philip :sheep:

Hi Philip,
Have loved reading lots of sheepy things on this forum over the last 24 hours. Then read your shearing thread and had to sign up! We're in Oxfordshire and have four ewes who will need shearing - they are in lamb and am not entirely sure when they will deliver, sometime in next 8 weeks is about as precise as I can be ... we've had them two years but this is our first year lambing so it's all a bit of an adventure... not a very happy one so far buy hey ho! Should they be sheared after lambing now? Having had one with blow fly last year I'd prefer not to repeat the experience by leaving them too late but also don't want to stress them too much now - one looks fit to pop at any time. Thanks very much!
-
Hi,
At the moment it looks like I will be coming down to Oxfordshire sometime around the 20th, don't know if that's any good to you.
I will be in the Bicester area for a couple of days.
Thanks,
Philip :sheep:
ps sorry for the late reply I have been out all day helping my family cope with over 4000 children!!
-
wow, the 4000 children sounds scary, lambing in comparison seems simple! The 20th ish sounds great - one of the 4 ewes lambed this morning so hopefully the others will follow suit soonish and they would be ready for 20th. Can I ask how much it would be? We're about 8 miles from Bicester so might work out well?
Thanks Philip.
-
Hi, Have u got any dates for lancashire. There are a few of us on different sites but all fairly local.
Laura
-
We've got 6 Suffolks in East Devon that will be needing a haircut ..........
-
Hi,
Smashy and gang,
I will pm you with price.
Laura,
When would suit you?
Also how many lots are there and how many in each lot?
Sheepnewbies,
Should be coming down to Bristol area sometime in the not too distant future.
Hope this helps,
Thanks,
Philip :sheep:
-
Any idea when you might be able to fit in 6 in glos? they are getting pretty desperate to lose their coats!!
-
Hi Hen,
Hopefully around the 20th to the 24th of this month (Next week) that is if we have a van on the road as we have two in the garage at the moment and not sure when we will get one back.
Will keep in touch and let you know a rough date ASAP.
Thanks,
Philip :sheep:
-
Hi
We have about 130- 140 to do in the New Forest, do you come down this way? and if you do can you give me a price?
We have various ages of Hamp downs
Many thanks
-
Hi Feldar,
Sorry but due to our van not having a gearbox in at the moment I can't travel too far and when we get it running again I have a backlog of about a month, so sadly the earliest would be about the middle of June.
Sorry I can't be of any help,
Thanks,
Philip :sheep:
-
Many thanks to Philip and his Dad (sporting a funky knitted hat) for shearing our sheep on Sunday evening. I can highly recommend Philip - despite probs with the van (which he kept me informed about) he turned up as planned and did a great job with the girls. Thankyou!
-
Hi Smashy,
Nice meeting you, we only arrived back at 1am yesterday so still recovering from the long days.
Thanks,
Philip :sheep:
