I've got the Plan for the punt started with the bottom and the sides I've intentions of having the blunt end the same as the sharp end then we need not turn it round to go back. I also think the ends need to drop down like a beach landing craft.I plan on having a log cabin with a wood burning stove to cook on and keep us warm at night and a wind driven generator to charge the battery so we can watch the dual voltage TV, for there is no telling how long and how deep this flood of tears may last

Is this the worst world cup ever?

It getting better! I'm really enjoying it. Brilliant for New Zealand; felt sorry for North Korea today, though.

I do hope England qualify, although if they don't I'll get more done. Play Joe Cole, Fabio!! And give the captaincy back to the REAL captain.

All the commentators and journalists commented on how badly Englands players played yesterday. Perhaps now is the time to ask why then these guys are getting the outrageous salaries they receive (and are obviously not earning)? ::) ::)

Now if i was the FA i would give the England squad (or would troop be better as in monkeys???) the total cost for their 4 week jolly to SA and say i dont care how you divvy it up but we will have this paid by the end of the week, thankyou!!

Useless!! overpaid bunch of players who did not show any hunger throughout the tournament, its like they just sat back and said 'oh we are England and have Rooney, Gerrard, Terry, Lampard etc etc etc and the goals will just come!!! i think not my pedigree chums and perhaps you ought to look at some of the smaller teams who are fighting tooth and nail for their countries!

Oh well at least i can watch Wimbledon now

I think you may have the rights of it there, WP.

The Mighty England response to the rest of the world...'we are England, so we will win'...

Suddenly, front rooms and house fronts were decorated in red and white, flags flew from cars and rooftops. Children were painted and the whole (so they said) 'nation' got behind the dream team, with even schools and workforces taking time out to watch their heroes punish the rest of the world for having the temerity to challenge their superiority.

The commentators said it all...

Then comes the wailing and gnashing of teeth ;D, Obsequious love quickly turns to blame and hatred and, back  home, the gallows are being erected even before the full-time whistle.

Is it any wonder these grossly overpaid and over-adulated representatives of such an arrogant, capricious nation cannot deliver the goods when set against more staid and modest opposition?

If you look at the match stats, as I have, England actually had more possesion, more shots on and off target, and more corners than Germany. The disallowed goal was a travesty (as was the offside Tevez Argentinian goal later in the day). Had Lamps' goal stood, it might have been a very different story. They got a bit desperate after half time going for the equaliser and got caught on the break. It happens.

It's a shame they don't seem to replicate their club form at national level, though.

This is very true. I made the same observations myself but I still believe they should have life a little harder than they do. Might just ground them a little bit.

Yes but as i said they are not the only country with a disasterous team but as Irelands nearest neighbour they get a bashing from them. I don't think our Irish contingent have bashed the French quite as much. Please correct me if i'm wrong[i know someone will]

and which one flew over the cuckoo's nest as well Gordon? :D Do you think there is anyone daft enough?Don't know though there were some daft enough to go.Of course I would have like England to win ,but I am not a football follower at all. It seemed to me the players were not very interested in the bits that were shown as part of the news.We don't seem to do much good at what I call Internationals either nowadays.Lets hope these things run in cycles and Englands is on the way up.I don't know what Tommy Lawton and all them dead players like Sir Stanley Matthews think. They must be turning in their graves, the humility of it all and its every thing/body's fault bar theirs (players) ??? :'( :'( :farmer:.

I am not a follower of that game either but what bits I do see on TV the players do seem interested. Is it anything to do with renumeration? Gordon The cricket team of late seem to be in the footballers class. It always used to be competitive My Dad was very Keen and always went to the Test at Trent Bridge in the days of Bradman and Co Even in his later years he went to see Freddie Truman. The high light of his year.Time could always be made to go to the MATCH :D :farmer:
Title: Re: The World Cup/Inner peace..

Renumeration? Absolutely! Few sportsmen thesedays really seem to care about the results, only what they can get out of it, and as for appearance fees! Well!!!!
In my opinion, you compete to win, because you love your chosen sport and should be honoured to represent your club / country!

as per my earlier post, i think this bunch of wallies turned up for the extra money and thats all, cant see from their dire lacklustre displays of Sunday mornin football was anything less than emabarrassing. take a look at some of the smaller teams in the competition, they all went out and played thier socks off, why??? because they wanted to be on the world stage and were happy/honoured to represent their country. not our lot though and what happened when they came back?? they all got on planes and flew straight back out to their £1m+ holiday houses!! Joke. they should be made accountable and explain why they were aso poor, and think of the cost to the economy, my boss and a few of my friends all were allowed to go home early for the last England group game, and to be fair they scrambled through that!!

I would love to fire a home truth rocket up some of the @rses of these opverpaid pre-madonnas

I know nothing at all about football but my friend said  he thought the team was rubbish because in all the really good  English premier league teams most of the players are foreign - they buy talent in rather than bringing it on, so there arent enough talented English players when it comes to picking the national team.

What do you reckon?

I watched the end of the game on Friday night - they woz robbed! It would definitely have been a goal if not for that hand ball. Poor wee Ghana should have gone through.
