Title: Transporting in lamb ewes?
Post by: Hillview Farm on November 16, 2013, 05:45:15 pm
I'm not planning on moving any in lamb ewes but I just wondered What is the cut off period for moving in lamb ewes? Is it 4 weeks pre lambing?

All the regulations are in there for transporting sheep.
Most species are not allowed to be transported in last 10% of gestation period (15d for sheep) and need a bit more room so as not to get jostled.
Hope that helps

Does it depend on distance? I normally move mine home a week before due but its only quarter of a mile down the road and they never seem to fret.

I believe there is a slight caveat to the 15 days which must be less than 50kms if it is necessary to improve the birthing conditions or something like that- its all in the doc that fsmnutter posted
