-
I've got Sydney (Syd for short) and Adelaide (mammy and daddy Kune Kune)
Rora (blame the kids) Toffee and Big Red (next generation of Kune Kunes)
Fatty the castrated KK
Squirt and smudge the Berkshires
And the LB's are probably going to be Lady and Duchess
We named one lot of weaners Sausage and Rasher, but haven't named any 'eating' pigs since ;)
-
hot lips!!
funny. ;D ;D ;D ;D
my boys jus named his rabbit - stu
-
Valentine (had a perfectly shaped heart on his ham :-*)
Spottie The First
Bigspot
Black Ear
Pyjamaman (no religious connotations! When we visited him as a tiny weaner he looked as if he was wearing peachy pyjamas because he had next to not spots and his pink skin was visible through his white hair - plus he absolutely loved to have his hair brushed, probably our first gay piggy! ;D)
Triple (3 spots above his tail)
Cuddle (the first one of a litter to lie down for a belly rub - often confused with Triple when they've been rolling through the mud and are all a uniform brown!)
...
and those were all 'eaters', not 'keepers' ;D Couldn't help but name them, they were just so cute!
Hot lips... now I wonder what that was based on?? ;D ;D
-
we only have weaners to eat at the moment
the 2 black ones are called Poppy and Petal
they 2 white are stumpy (little tail) and longtail
they were called minger and munter as they were not the prettiest girls when we got them and then i felt bad as they have the bestest temprement......
I know you shouldn't have favourites amoung your babies but poppy (because shes the smallest) and longtail as she will stand for ages getting her hair brushed :pig: :pig: ;D
they are due to go around the 17th Jan if all goes well :yum:
-
All GOS
Delia & Gerry
Rufus, Polly & Clover
Trixie & Twinkle
and visiting sow Dotty, snow has delayed her return home so looks like she'll be here until the New Year :).
-
hot lips is the brittish lop when we collected from newark show then collected hawk eye(golden eagle blood line) started of the journey back home with them separated in the trailer stopped to see how they were getting on and the were cuddled up toghether(typical girl from the valleys) so in the end hawk eye nailed hot lips hollihan(mash)
-
Well Hilary obviously (Hilary Clinton), then George the boar, Lucy, Gracie and Edwina (Curry) (GOS) Martha and Ochra. (LB) And the biggest pet of them all Digby (large black).
-
didnt that large black breeder call his sow oprah and caused such a scandel in papers so had to change its name. and gordon ramsay called his trinny and susannah lol
-
Well I thought Oprah was a lovely name too, but she became Ochra. Hilary Clinton and Edwina Curry have not complained so far !! :D
-
You've named Hilary after Hilary Clinton? ;D
(Just don't anybody call their piggy Sarah Palin, they'd get shot from a low flying helicopter! ::) )
We tend to give ours names depending on their character or spots - the latter method can seem a bit daft after one of their mud-sliding matches ::)
-
She came with attitude
-
The main ones:
Thisbe (current Tamworth Champion of Champions, expecting a litter in January)
Audrey (current Royal Welsh traditional pig champion - very elegant Lucky Lass sow)
Bramble (eats everything)
Bushpig (very ugly Tamworth, but rare bloodline, so have to keep her!)
Phoenix (nearly gave her up for dead after an accident)
Pricey (cost me a lot in vet bills)
Iris (named after my mum - she's not flattered)
I did have a Hamlet (now a breeding boar in Kent) and a Barbara (sadly prolapsed and had to be culled)
Have a couple of others waiting for names....looking for inspiration...
-

Plus Mme Clinton is an intellectual heavyweight! ... I'm now having visions of Hilary the pig reading The Economist in her ark, front legs crossed and engrossed in the financial affairs section ;D
Hope it all goes well with the other 2 - I take it Digsby is in the sofa again?
-
Murphy, the boar
Maud and Mildred (ever read "The Worst Witch?!")
If we ever have another breeding sow she will be Ethel
the piglets are Ginge, Grump, Wilber, Grunt & Baby.. . . they are NOT stopping long!!
-
Hamlet (named by Liz, gorgeous boar)
Wotsit
Titania (but the kids all call her Titty!)
Portia (continuing the shakespearian theme)
Velma and Ugly Betty (handreared tam x saddleback)
and a litter of Tams, 2 of which I'm keeping for showing next year. Need suggestions for a welsh name starting with H for the little boar to follow in his fathers trotter marks and one of the gilts who has a huge bum so have nicknamed whoopi!
-
Our 4 GOS weaner boars:
Headspot
Earring
Cleanface and
Teardrop
All eaters, but I felt I needed to have a reliable method of identifying them :D
And now before we have a pork based meal we can toast the appropriate individual ;D
Tish
-
Skidley, you could go for something simple like Harri or Huw. Or something with a bit of history attached, like Hywel (pronounced "Howell" in English)- after Hywel Dda (Hywel the Good) who was the 10th century king.
-
Eve yes Digsby is on the sofa, under his duvet, snoring. I love the idea of Hilary in an armchair, legs crossed reading the Times or similar or perhaps Paris Match?
-
Our breeding girls are called - Bacon, Hocks, Trotters, Chop, Crackling and Belly Pork!
All named by our children ;D
-
they're your breeders .... what do you call the ones you're going to eat??!!
;D
-
Digsby is on the sofa, under his duvet

My first meat weaners were called Rasher, Chop and Sausage.
My breeding girls are Bluebell, Star, Princess, Lulu, Ellen, Rosie, Delia, Dahlia, Jenny and Penny. My boar is Jerry.
The ones for fattening are either all called girly girls or piggy boys.
:)

LARG BLACK (the emphasis on LARGE)

They all have fabulous names. Just shows what care we all take of our pigs. Love the idea of naming one after my mum but ....OLIVE???? mmm don't think so.
-
The two OSB sows we use for breeding are called Olive and Girti.
What's wrong with Olive?
-
cranford, you never met my mother. Julie are they GOS?

We've got Bertie, Gertie and Bob. With us til early April.
-
Ours are all GOS:
Patti
Piggy-Sue
Daisy
Muriel
Freda
Primrose and Parsley....
..and our boars, Bob and Dave. We do have Brian, but I think he's got to go with his brothers in Feb for the chop as his ears aren't long enough :'(
-
Sorry Hillarysmum, only just caught up with this thread.
Yes they are all GOS.
Just picked up 3 more today too. Countess, Queenie and Dolly. :) :) :)
-
Parsley - now that's a good name! Do you have one called 'sauce'? ;)
-
I love that name Parsley too.
JulieS wonderful.
-
Our first weaners for fattening were milano, parma, rissotto and paella. Our gilts are Amber and Autumn (OSB) my canadian friend said they sound like new york hookers, my poor girls!
-
:D Don't worry, they don't! :D
Parma, Paella, Milano... good choice!
-
We have BOARS: Bacon, Tipton, Terry and James.
SOWS:Pippy, Milly, Molly, Lottie, Rosie, Sally, Heather, Amber, Holly,Tilly, Florence and Mabel.
-
I love how most of the boars have such unpretentious names. ;D. Give me a Bob or James any day over Achillies or Zeus.
-
oohh i love pretentious names, thats half the fun. wev got rabbits called colonel mustard and sergeant pepper. lol  :farmer:

I used to have a goldfish named Nostradamus - he was black with lots of wavy fins :D He sadly died when I topped up his tank with sparkling water... :'( (I was still a child, back then!)
Oops, I'm straying from the subject again, sorry! :-[

So they've arrived then ? ;D ;D ;D Welcome to TAS
-
Well you're probably all sick of hearing about my 3 the last few days :-))
Bonking Boris
Kim
Aggie
And now 20 little piglets! Hopefully all make it so will have some weaners for sale March time lovely BSB's if anyone is thinking of getting some in the spring.
-
So what are you going to call the 20 new ones ? ;D ;D ;D
-
My first two were called Fat Frank (after Frank Lampard) and JT (John Terry)
I am not a Chelsea fan - I just thought it would be easier when their time came! ;D
yhe net lot were eany, meany minie and mo, because I couldn't tell them apart. thinking on names for the next lot right now!
-
I'm not naming the new ones.. I wouldn't part with them if I did ;D. Let's just call them the rabble.
-
Horace, Tilly and Babe
-
We started with Pinky and Perky (obviously!) ;)
Then came:
Spot, Belle, Lulu, Lolly, Honey, Blossom, Pip, Curly and Humphrey (he has a little hump!) and our big manly boar Muffin!
We don't name the rest as they're all destined for meat.....although we've found they don't taste any different whether you name them or not ;)
2010 began with 4 sows - 2011 starts with 8 sows, a boar and 41 piglets (all currently running free thanks to the weather bringing down their electric fencing - Happy Days!!!
:pig: :pig: :pig: :pig: :pig: :pig: :pig: :pig: :pig: :pig: :pig: :pig: :pig: :pig: :pig: :pig: :pig: :pig: :pig: :pig: :pig:

We have had a Charlotte and Babe,a Dusty, Lulu and Cilla, a Sam and Elvis and Rusty, Curly and Ham. Not sure what to call the next ones perhaps I will get some ideas on here.
-
when delilah was ill, the vets receptionist asked for her name, a thought to consider when naming them - lol
i could imagine telling them the pig was called bonking boris or hotlips would be hysterical, i will have to think of some really good names for the next ones xxxx
lol ;D :D ;D :D ;D :D ;D :D ;D :D ;D :D

Bet it would raise a laugh in the surgery ;D
-
I told the vet his name when she came to visit Kim after farrowing. Given he's sired 22 babies first try I'd say bonking boris was apt and she thought it was funny ;D :pig: ;D :pig:
-
My kids named ours: Ziggy the Piggy!
www.Zazzle.com/ThePigPen
-
Great site. Love your user name.
-
Ziggy the Piggy? Now why didn't we think of that! ;D
We've got loads of kids coming to see our pigs and the only thing they could think of was Porky... ::)
3 different families all chose the same weaner as 'their' pig as he was easily identifiable because of his black ear, though I'm pretty sure none of them actually got a bit of him in the end :D
-
Started with three Pot Bellied - Pringle, Cheese and Chives.
Moved on to three Kune Kunes - Wilber, Charlotte and Rosie.
And now have two GOS's - Mabel and Dotty
:)
-
Three Saddlebacks, all girls named Cheryl, Simona and Louise after the X Factor judges! Simona's band of white is quite high up so it looks like she has Simon Cowell trousers on!
-
now we HAVE to see a picture of a female Simon Cowell pig!
:)
-
Ah, but does she have his illuminating teeth? ;D
