Just says it in the title... too busy right now to embark on making wine (for the first time), but got loads of rhubarb, and was wondering - can you freeze it to make wine later? Same for other fruit?

I did this, and the wine was dreadful (or maybe my partner in crime just told me that because he drank it all!?) it should be fine though, our rhubarb gets chopped and frozen before being sent for jam.

In theory I would say yes. I freeze other fruit for wine fine. However, I've never been able to get a rhubarb wine to taste good so I can't guarantee that it'll be better frozen. But if you do freeze it you then have the option of trying it in a wine or jam or just as desserts.

Thanks, I normally freeze it in 1kg lots to make jam or crumbles in the winter. Will give wine a try when I have more time to faff about...

Yes it should make a good clear wine. Freezing kills the pectin which can make wine hazy, which is why frozen fruit may not set well as jam without added pectin
