Does anyone know if flowering currant is safe for goats to eat?  I have one that I wante to remove and it seems a shame to waste it if they can have it.

Flowering current, as in redcurrant, blackcurrant etc?  Some of my goats like those, some don't

Similar but it doesn't produce fruit.  It's ornamental and the flowers smell like cat pee.

Personally, I would not feed garden shrubs and plants to goats, unless it was fruit or veg of course.

Mine eat black currant leaves.

I suppose you could try her with a tiny bit and see how she goes.

Or you could decide it's not worth the risk!

Raspberry leaves/branches are good fairly close to their kidding date as they help uterine contractions (as far as I know), also true for humans (as in raspberry leaf tea), but should not be eaten/drunk at other times during pregnancy.

As for flowering currants I don't know, mine will eat black/red currant branches, but I would be careful with anything ornamental. It's just safer not to risk it imo.

Oooooh that brings back memories....glugging RL tea in the birthpool between contractions - it worked though!
