neighbour is up to his tricks again
« on: February 16, 2011, 01:50:17 pm »
My neighbour has started his silly tricks again.
I had a sheep fall down dead yesterday and low and behold today the animal welfare are here reacting to a report of dead animals.
The only person that could have seen this animal is him as she died in the home paddock and was moved to a holding area 5 minutes after dying which is covered over and locked until collection to stop foxes etc getting to it.
Last year I had a order to get rid of my cockerals because of him and now he is starting on the sheep as he says that it should only be horses kept there. What the heck am I supposed to do?

Oh NO, that's awful. some people are just put on this earth to whinge and complain  >:(

WHatever you do don't get rid of your animals!! I wonder if Animal welfare could serve a return complaint about time wasters? you had followed procedure for dealing with deadstock so I'm sure AW will not be best pleased about some muppet phoning to moan.
why does he say it shoudl only be horses?

When he bought the house next door somebody had said that my house was only used for horses and no other animal. We moved in at the same time as he did so there was no animals there but the grazing rights gives us basically the rights to have most animals.

Then you must keep that right, for future owners if nothing else. It is your neighbour who is in the wrong and your OH should see that.  If you let him get away with this then your property could lose the right to keep animals on it.  Have you spoken to him face to face about why he doesn't like animals otehr than horses.  Doesn't he realise that in fact they are less of a concern to him than horses would be?  Horses can escape and trample over his property.  This is far less likely with sheep, and less of a problem.  If you have any going to slaughter perhaps you could charm him with a shoulder of lamb?  It's always better to get on with your neighbours if at all possible, although, having had them myself, difficult ones can be a PITA.  Good luck, but don't get rid of your animals because of an ignorant man

We haven't spoke to him since the issue with the cockerals last year as he is hell bent on bad mouthing us around the village. He always seems to be there if any of the sheep escape which at first I didn't pay any attention to but it got a little obvious that he was always around and fences had been cut or energisers switched off.
I think OH is wanting an easier life after the stress of last time

We had a similar thing with our neighbours  >:(
People want to have a nice house in the country with a bit of land and a couple of ponies - then, once they move in (next to an already established farm btw) they moan about the pigs, the chickens, basically everything and anything that's here  ::)
FIGHT HIM ON THIS - PLEASE ! If you've got a CPH number and animal health are happy with your set up then you're doing nothing wrong - he wanted a house in the country ? Well, this is country living ! and all the sights and sounds that go with it.
Incidentally, said neighbours have unfortunately split up (and I am sad for them) but they're not living in the house anymore and not making my life hell. A lot of people like the idea of living in the country, the reality soon kicks in however and they'll be on their way soon enough ;) I know it's an awful position to be in, you're constantly watching every move you make - but tough it out ! We're all here to help & support you  :-* :-* :-*

I was also going to say if you have a CPH which you will have to graze your sheep then he hasnt a leg to stand on, the land can be used for sheep, not just horses.

Our neighbours moved from the city, wanting a country life, we are both in rented accomodation and they are looking for a place with land!  You never see them outside, only time they come out is to smoke on the doorstep, moan when its snowing and when he goes to work.

She loves seeing my chicks when they hatch but when the cockerels find their voices, oh, she is in such a rush to tell me, then when I say we are despatching them, well, you would think I was the worst person in the world.

And dont get me started on when they discovered bats in their belfry, the utter look of horror when we explained they couldnt get shut of them as they are protected.

They annoy us, but we find their towny views quite amusing.

Dont give in, keep your animals and prove that you have a right to be there and so do your animals!  Good Luck, keep us posted.

well we are waiting for the reports to the letting agency again now, as with last year there were reports of everything from not cutting the grass to overcrowding (only 2 of us live in a 3 bedroom). I think this is what OH doesn't want again but I'm willing to fight it wore me down last year but it won't this year I'm not doing anything wrong and unfortunately livestock do die or are taken by foxes.
I am going to try and talk him round tonight as he is all for packing up and leaving now.

Try and talk him round  ;)
Why should you be made to feel that you can't enjoy your house any more that they enjoy theirs - IT'S NOT FAIR !
You could try talking, if thing's haven't soured too much with them - but if it's not possible to be civil, do it through the proper channells and STAND YOUR GROUND !
It all comes back to the old Braveheart speech "They may take our lives, but they'll never take our freedom !" ;) ;D ;D ;D

Definately not talking to him as he is so arrogant it makes no difference. He made me feel really bad last year and I didn't want to go out as he constantly watches me around the place and even when I was trying to train Blue and falling off all the time. He has even complained to my other neighbour because I start my car at 6am during the week because I go to work he is a born complainer. But I think this time he will find the sharp end of my tongue as I am not taking it, and be darned if he splits me and the OH up this time.

Eww he sounds creepy and horrible  :-\  there always seems to be one in every road/village. We keep getting complaints that our tree's hang too low (so we had them cut back and got complaints that the tractor/hedge cutter closed the road for an hour lol) then complaints that the carer who looks after my terminally ill mum parks for 30 minutes out side our house and it slows traffic down (good!!)  Tony gets really hacked off, it makes me wobble for a bit but at the end of the day, its their sad little life and hard as it is to do so, we have to ignore them when possible x

you will need to try the Indian rope scenario
give him enough rope and he will hang himself(literally speaking)
yes it will wear you down but rise above it
it is every body's dream to live in the country but there are downsides the first being neighbours as you have found out

Any good interview tricks or advise
