BREAKING NEWS JUST IN about the wether next week
« on: August 27, 2013, 12:01:56 pm »
just seen this , temperatures to plummet at the weekend !!

After highs on Sunday of +23 degrees, and yesterday at +24 degrees. Temperatures this week will slowly drop until we get to the weekend where they'll plummet to about +11/13 degrees, a staggering +10 degree fall in only 4-5 days . . . . . . .

And the reason for this is Autumn has arived  This morning, there is fog about inland, showing we’re coming to the end of August now, Autumn will soon be in the air. Still, the summer warmth allowed 26.6C at Solent yesterday on the south coast. This morning, there is fog about inland, showing we’re coming to the end of August now,

What I do know though is there's something happening up in the north east of Canada, and up by Greenland. . . . . .

And if we have a look at the attached temperature image from tomorrow morning, we can see a large cold air mass up in the top left hand corner. This will be making it's way down over and into SCOTLAND at the weekend !!

WINDS should pick up some time on Saturday as well, gusting to 30/40/50mph and will continue to gust all night, and all day Sunday, easing slightly as we go into Monday.

Saturday and Sunday (at the moment anyway) look to be 2 cracking days - clear, bright, sunny, but cold and very very windy !!! (and Monday looks ok as well, but a lot cooler . I’ll be keeping an eye on that. It’s not long now until the risk of wintry showers over the Scottish mountains starts to increase!

It's certainly feeling a lot colder already, and we've had quite a bit of fog, too.

So it looks like it's going to be mostly green tomatoes again this year. Don't think I'll bother again...

Definately after summer now. Ha came in off the sea night before last about 8:30. I saw it coming and was just shutting last of chicks away when I realised how cold it had suddenly got, looked up to realise I couldn't see far, surrounded by chilly fog. - temp must have dropped at least 5' in less minutes.

Thanks for the heads up - I want to get in a bit more swimming in the pond.

Third cut baled and wrapped last night  :relief:  3rd cut on this farm is unheard of!  But we'd saved this field through winter for an early cut, in case we had another non-summer aka rainy season ::)

One more field to get but it's nothing special.  And I need some less good stuff to dry the Jerseys off  ;)

Thoughts beginning to turn to tupping...  :excited:
Don't listen to the money men - they know the price of everything and the value of nothing

Live in a cohousing community with small farm for our own use.  Dairy cows (rearing their own calves for beef), pigs, sheep for meat and fleece, ducks and hens for eggs, veg and fruit growing

I love autumn! Crisp clear days etc. I am a bit sick of this hot, humid weather. Can't get much done, paranoid about flystrike and can't take the dogs bikejoring till 10pm.

I really do NOT need this. We are going on holiday to Scotland tomorrow. It's been warm and sunny here and there today and I was hoping for a lovely warm, dry week.

Sounds grim but it could all cahnge after a week or so and warm up again.

I just checked our 10 day forecast and it is getting warmer here ( some way south of Scotland) with the risk of evening thunder storms caused by the heat. We could certainly do with some rain as we have not had as many evening storms as in recent summers.

I am off to Arran on the 21st of September and could do with some decent weather that week as will have 2 small children and 2 dogs who love to walk.

Very low rain fall for Scotland for September and October so that's the 4th month to be on the dry side :
