We have a holiday cottage we let out in Ffestiniog ( good small holder's rates I am sure!!! )  if he would like a weekend of little steam trains??

As for my ideal husband present, my wife and I have decided to just ask the other for a suggestion- and invariably include some 'incredible edible' we can enjoy together. Is that really cheating?

I have dyslexic fingers as well.

His 60th was last year and I've forgotten what I did get in the end, but I'm starting to think about this year now. A weekend away near steam trains sounds ideal. He did say it would be nice to get away for his birthday but I have a commitment on the following day. Could maybe do it another weekend though. Is your cottage disabled friendly as, not only is he blind, but I am physically disabled. I don't use a wheelchair (although I have a scooter for when I go out) but need somewhere relatively level and all on one floor.

No, not ideal for you cos it is a tiny terrace with stairs but watch this space....although we lost our buyer two days ago :'( we are still trying to but a new place which has exactly what would suit you. All on one floor.

Not anniversary time yet for us but for my birthday treat a fortnight ago we had a night in a hotel with an en suite bath so OH could have his first bath since October last year when we moved to our croft !
I am away, where I have access to a bath, for a fortnight in every six weeks, but I don't know how he has lasted so long! Hopefully we will have a bath installed in the house by this Christmas.
It was also the first night he hadn't slept on the croft since moving. We were only away for less than 20 hours but it was lovely and money very well spent.
So I would think along the lines of a similar treat again.
With 1 Angora and now 6 pygmy goats, Jacob & Icelandic sheep, chooks, a cat and my very own Duracell bunny aka BH !

whoops that's a nice  a timely reminder that we have our 26th anniversary on the 15 Sept .

Here is my suggestion .

Have a look into the index of  Blackwell Scientific books

Their  Farm building construction was much appreciated by me for our 10th anniversary as I was about to embark on setting up six insulated stock breeding sheds with air con, water & electrics ..
It also covered things like floor drainage gradients and numerous other good sound ideas to consider .
I was also given a couple of in-depth books about the stock we were hoping to raise rather than rely on hearsay , witchcraft or uneducated practices that would have ruined us from day one .
Strong belief , triggers the mind to find the way ... Dyslexia just makes it that bit more amusing & interesting
