Replacing an ear tag in old hole
« on: September 03, 2010, 11:48:50 am »
Hi,

I have some ear tags that need replacing as the sheep in question have both lost one.

In the past I have noticed that where I have had to cut out ear tags that a nice clean hole is left.
My thought is that the new tags are the same width as the one that has to be taken out so the new tag could be applied without creating a wound.
Then only the second ear would need to be pierced.

Is there any reason why I shouldn't put one of the replacements through the existing hole?

Thanks

Sam

Hi,

No reason at all - go for it.

As long as the hole is clean with no tears around it, also make sure no mud or dirt will be trapped.

Thanks
