Smallholding VAT rates
« on: May 18, 2017, 03:51:26 pm »
OK, so after a bit of research, I've managed to ascertain that:

Bumble bees attract VAT at 20%, whereas honey bees are zero rated.

So that's ok then...... WAIT A MINUTE - WHO THE HELL SELLS BUMBLE BEES?!?!  ???

On a more serious note, can somebody please confirm that I've got these right?:

  • Lamb meat sales, zero rated
  • Live sheep sales, zero rated
  • Sale of laying hens, ducks and geese, zero rated
  • Sale of vegetables, zero rated
  • Sale of home made jam etc, zero rated
  • Eating egg sales, zero rated
  • Hatching egg sales for hens, ducks and geese (species normally eaten), zero rated
BUT.....
  • Fleece sales, Standard 20% rate
  • Hatching egg sales for peafowl (not normally eaten), standard 20% rate
Have I got that correct?  ???
