when to introduce pellets to piglets

My piglets always munch away on sow's pellets. During the pre weaning period (< 8 weeks old) when do people start giving piglets solid food in addition to them stealing their mothers food. And what amounts do you feed.

I let the piglets take their dam's until weaning - if she's in good condition she should be able to take a couple of weeks of shorter rations even though she'll still be making a lot of milk.  The piglets will take a couple of days to adjust to wholly solid feed but I give them as much as they will polish off in 20 minutes, gradually reducing to ten minutes as they approach finishing weight.
