As in I finally realised what that smaller wasn't-quite-a- pheasant birdie that had joined them foraging round the house is... my first partridge on this land. That and the first season's primroses have just blossomed on a sunny bank in my woodland. This is Llanfyllin area

Red legged partridge?

We have lots here. Put down by the shooting estate. They are comical little birds. Found one sitting on chicks in the hedgerow last year.

First primrose spotted in a sunny spot on the lane about 2 weeks ago. It was an early one though.

Between Welshpool and Newtown.

The reds aren't bad to eat if you can catch or shoot them (on your land of course) - don't eat the greys as they are endangered

we wouldn't kill or eat our wildlife as you could see by the number of near hand tame pheasants wandering around...
