Hello,

I have about 15 acres of grass land, it is ALC grade 4 (clay).

The land is about 10miles away from my home, so livestock seems a little too risky?

Any one else have experience of poorer quality land?

Thanks in advance

Hi.  As you obviously appreciate, live-stock will require very routine attention to their welfare.
A few basic Qs:
Did you have any particular use in mind when you bought the land (other than, perhaps, just wanting to own a bit of the UK)?
Do you have equipment for tillage or intend to procure or know someone who could do it for you?
How much spare time do you have to manage the land/crops?

Have you considered Willow ? It grows even in poor soils and wet conditions.

Can be coppiced or pollarded for willow whips, for weaving, firewood, biofuel, or even tree fodder for livestock.

Just an idea !!

Be careful what you scratch if you've been chopping chillies
