Moving location help
« on: January 16, 2017, 02:28:37 pm »
Hi all, due to a break down in relationship with my ex girlfriend I no longer can keep my sheep in the field they are currently in. I have to move off within a month, I have the new field lined up and all ready to move onto. However I am unsure where I go from here, do I ring DEFRA and register the new land under my name and cancel my old CPH and still complete a movement form from one piece of land to another? And from then on I have a New CPH for the new land? Sorry for the bombardment of questions, many thanks,
Keelan

Are you renting the new field? If so, does the owner already have a CPH? If they haven't got one you will need to get one. Then complete a movement form from one field to the next. You don't cancel the CPH on the first field. I understand that getting a CPH at the moment is taking a while.

if the 2nd (new) field is within 5 miles of the first (current) field, then you can use the CPH from the first field to cover your sheep on the 2nd field. no movement license needs. Then apply for a new CPH under your name for the new field, and complete a movement license once you have that new CPH.

Oh possibly.... Last time I used this "feature" was back in 2008, so they could well have extended it since then.

You're right PrincessRubyK - I've just read about the extension to 10 miles.

No I believe you register them both as the same holding no. and can then move your animals freely between them.

Nope, as long as you're happy to say the other field is part of your holding.

I think I registered it as a sub letting if that's the same thing

We ran things like this for 5 years, and we were inspected once, and it was all fine. I suspect the only things they wouldn't like are things like trying to claim someone else's farm is part of your holding, even though that farm is registered. But it's not black and white, as that holding number probably wouldn't be registered to you, but you're still probably responsible for the animals.
