last duck goes today
« on: December 17, 2016, 10:03:11 am »
Hi,
Six months ago we had six ducks.  Then the fox discovered them and in spite of our very best efforts the fox took the last but one yesterday.  We are now rehoming our last duck and cannot face getting new ones for the cycle to start again.  So today is a sad day and I just thought I'd share.  :'(
Never ever give up.

So Sorry for you Liz? ,  i know the feeling, i used to keep call ducks, the odd one to stoats was bad enough, we trapped the stoats,  but the slaughter by a fox (hens as well) early one evening broke my heart. Never again.  I can't look at call ducks now.

Its very sad when the fox gets your birds. We have had it happen several times and each time I feel devastated. I too decided not to get any more but a few months went by and I was hankering for more. I've had these for a few months now and so far so good, fingers crossed

Thanks all, your messages are a great comfort.  This is the second time in my life that I have known my OH cry.  The chap who took her away seemed the right type of person.  He said he would send photos.  Hope he does soon.
Never ever give up.

Sorry to hear this, it is so sad. It sounds like you found it a good home though.
