Multi Mite Diatom Powder
« on: November 29, 2016, 10:35:01 am »
I've bought a bag of this it's cheaper then most for dusting down the house.

It also states it's a good wormer as it's food grade.

Anybody else use it?

It's super cheap compared to my other brand from Amazon and it promises the world...too good to be true and all that?

Lee - it's probably fine. Wear a dust mask when you apply it though, as some diatom can be harmful by inhalation.

But when you eat it -theoretically- shouldn't go in your lungs  ;)

Indeed. There are lots of things that are perfectly fine to ingest, but not to inhale...... like water for instance  ;) .

Yep i uss it as well. Also put cardboard that is corrugated on one side in the nest box open side down. (Suggested on this forum a couple of years ago) the little beggars congregate inthe grooves so i burn it off every week

Use it as well, also good to add in their dust bath, also use it on our goats as not keen on using chemicals on them. Dogs have a plaque remover powder from the same company which works.

Oh, thanks for mentioning this Lee. I need to get some decent stuff and I want something cheaper than my bottle of Smite which works out relatively expensive if you're throwing it about hens, flooring, nestboxes, dust baths etc. I'll look it up!

Thanks all, I'll continue mixing it into the feed as a worm maintenance.

I always flubenvet them every spring and autumn too.
