I have had a most extrordinairy experience checking my email. There is a guy, who I do not know in the least, who has sent a CV through looking for a job to our company. I was wondering do any of you guys get these and how best do you handle these? Strictly we want to keep our business within family and would only take on outside help if really needed. Odd!

Not emails, but we have had a few letters from people looking for training/work places, while we couldn't help, I admire them for trying, better than those who just sit and look through job adverts.

However genuine it may seem you're best ignoring them. And don't open any attachments.

Agree with Hughsey - seems rude to delete without answering, but it may be a way of getting to know it's a real email address. So delete.

All get listed as junk mail with the domain name blocked. Not taking the risk.

Never had at home but as I work in HR, regularly get people wanting a job.

For me it depends on the email, if it is addressed appropriately, has well worded content and has been signed by a name I would just respond saying thanks but no opportunities at present. You can usually tell a dodgy one a mile away, the English is normally terrible and there is very little wording or too much that is not relevant. If the CV is a PDF it is normally harmless, most office docs are ok and your virus checking should pick up on bad ones. You never want to open a zip file though as those are most likely to be viruses and never click on hyperlinks.
