Probably a stupid question, but I can't work it out for the life of me, what's the number next to your profile?

It says 'Profile[3] on the header bar at the top. I thought they might be messages to start with, but nothing in my inbox...

I've been puzzling over that as well BF? Mine went to 5 a few weeks ago and I have no idea why?

Could it be the number of 'Likes' we've received?

I think it's to do with these name 'links' people put in Posts?

I've got 2.  I thought it was the number of people I'd annoyed today. But that should probably be more.

No it's the amount of mentions you have had in posts. For example mentions are made if someone says @ and then the name after that, it should come up in an email in your inbox. If you go to profile click on mentions and it will say how many you have had

I had some, i did work out how to clear them eventually, but can't remember how, was a bit annoying really, like to keep things tidy,

To clear your mentions count, bring up the list of mentions, then visit each one by clicking on it.
