His mate (male) died a week ago so I'm off to Ffairfach poultry mart tomorrow to get him some girlfriends

All the best and I hope you find him a suitable mate

Well, he now has 4 Khaki Campbell females.

They are in a small pen at the moment and he keeps running round and round it making himself dizzy. I hope that means he is happy.

He is part runner and something else.

I put the girls in a bigger pen late afternoon and within 10 seconds he had managed to get into them. Jumped on top of one straight away but things then settled down. They followed him all round the pen and seemed happy enough to go to bed in their house all together.

Got to love ducks. Just so much more gregarious and friendlier towards each other than hens  :) .

Friendlier????  It's just plain old lust not love!

oh, I don't know. Although there's no love lost between me and my scovy drake he looks after his girls and offspring pretty well.

I have found that mine is looking after his girls too.

The first time they went in the pond they stayed there all day and when it came to bed at night weren't coming out.

Huey (drake) went back into the pond and called them. Like a harem they followed him out and walked in single file behind him up to their house. Job done

My drake comes and taps on the window if they are out of pellets or if I am too late shutting them in at night :)

No, I mean in the girl-to-girl sense. Introduce new girl ducks to a flock and they just seem to say hello, welcome to paradise and would you like to see our pond?  Introduce new hens to a flock and it's a different story!
