I've read that you shouldn't add more eggs to the incubator one youv'e started but can you get away with it?
I've successfully hatched out 3 out of 6 goose eggs recently. three of the six had not developed at all presumably because they were unfertilised but as I was not confident in making that decision when candling them at about 10 days I left them in the incubator. What exactly should I be looking for and how confident can you be that early that they won't develop? As the incubator only holds 6 goose eggs (novital 24) it would be useful to be able to replace any eggs found to be duff when candling at about 10 days instead of running a half empty incubator for the rest of the incubation period. Any advice/experience appreciated.

I can only speak from chicken experience, but during the last 3 days in the incubator, you have to increase the humidity and stop turning the eggs. I'm sure if you put other eggs in later, this would be problematic if they weren't turned and conditions may get too wet for them.

I found some pictures of candled eggs on the internet that were really useful - but chickens of course! I'm sure they would be the same if not extremely similar for geese!

we have mixed hatched twice turkeys and chickens. so while the chickens were setting waiting to hatch you have to hand turn the others. give it a try and see what you get. he only other draw back is the inc is dirty after the first hatch so there is an increased risk of bugs.
