My woven scarf
« on: July 13, 2016, 11:38:28 am »
This is the scarf I have been weaving with the Ashford vari dent reed.

I used some boucle merino yarn I bought in NZ and also some merino and possum mix. Then there is some used sari silk thread (chunky) that I bought from Wingham Wools at Wonderwool.

I like the effect you get with the vari dent reed so will definitely be doing something else with it when I get the time.

That's lovely Bionic Sally.  Beautiful bobbly, textured effect, and the colours go well together.  You're very good at this arty, crafty stuff  8).  Is it soft to wear?   I must have a look at the varident loom.

Yes, it is soft to wear as the edge warp is the merino/possum mix.

I love the sari silk yarn too. I will be buying some more of that and they have it in such lovely colours

That is so pretty. I assume the varident heddle means you can use different thickness warps across the width of your item. I love the textured effect, you clever old thing!

That is very effective, Sally, and I love the colours. I'm tempted to get one now.

The vari dent comes in a sort of jig saw. There are pieces of dent in different sizes that you fit onto the reed in the order that you want. So it doesn't have the same set each time.

If (fat chance!) I made anything so lovely I'd be afraid to wear it. You are clever, Sally!
