Sut mae!
« on: April 23, 2016, 10:20:37 pm »
Hello, I often look through the forum so thought I would sign myself up so that I can participate :)
Bought a smallholding (5 acres in total consisting of 3 sloping paddocks and stables) last September with my OH for the purpose of keeping my two neds at home and one day be self sufficient in growing veg, maybe keep a few chickens for our own eggs.....

So far it's been a lot of work, making the land safe for the neds and the house needs doing up.....but it's great to have a place to call our own.

I am most likely to ask questions on plants and land management (lately I've stomping on new bracken shoots in hope of reducing its coverage in the flattest paddock I own!), also interested in humane ways of deterring rabbits, moles and other creatures tunnelling through my land (have a love hate relationship with rabbits because they are eating my resting paddock as the grass grows through.....but I enjoy seeing them ((my first pet was a rabbit)).

Also interested in keeping a few pet sheep or goats one day soon :)

Anyways enough of an essay, I look forward to discussing things :)

boast not yourself of tomorrow; for you know not what a day may bring forth. Let another man praise you, and not your own mouth; a stranger, and not your own lips. proverbs 27 verses 1-2.

Welcome from W Yorks, have fun.
Forget about humane methods of mole control, our cat appears to be sorting ours.
After nearly 25 years here, now decided rabbits are more of a nuisance than cute

HI to you from Northampton - can you have your rainy weather back please - I don't like it - it was sunny yesterday.

I always feel like I get a warm welcome when I am in wales - they even have loads of cars with 'Heddlu' on them which I think is welsh for 'Hello'.   :innocent:

If you cant beat 'em then at least bugger 'em about a bit.
