Quad Bike Insurance
« on: February 06, 2016, 08:28:10 pm »
Hi,
We are looking to insure our quad bike against theft and went into the NFU for a quote.  They are offering off-road insurance on a fully comp basis, there is a £100 excess if the quad is secured but £500 if left unsecured.  The quote is for around £360.

We're not sure if that is reasonable, it seems a little high but I do know these quads can be a magnet for thieves. Any thoughts?

I had a quote of over £500 a few years ago.  Decided  not to bother and put the money towards an update in a few years instead.

If road legal and you take it onto roads you should by law have insurance.  Also if anyone else rides it insurance is a good idea.

Yeah my quad insurance is about £300 odd - any driver over 25 is what normally comes with farm vehicle insurance providers.  Which is useful.

All new road quads now have to have a steering lock - make sure you use it. (even though its useless) ;)

Thanks for that, I'll check for the steering lock as I don't think that it has one (2013 model)
