I had my renewal of policy reminder from my insurance company yesterday and it was up a bit on last years, so, I went on-line to see if I could find something cheaper.
I found a company who said they specialised in 4x4 insurance, filled in their on-line questions and waited for a quote.........£8004!!!!! so, clicked it off and decided to stay with the one I was with, £4016.
Within 10 minutes I had a call from the expensive one to tell me that having reviewed my details they could give me a better quote...£4006. That sounds ok, I said, I have to go to the bank and transfer some money and I'll ring you back.
I 'phoned my usual company to tell them I wouldn't be renewing my policy with them as I had a cheaper deal....well, surprise, surprise, they also found they could do a better deal and knocked £50 off my quote.
I fancied going from one to the other and seeing which would be the first to pay me for insuring my Landy with them!!
Is this a usual practise with vehicle insurance? If so it must be legal but is it moral?

Eh what?  ???   What on earth do you drive Devonlady?

Out of curiosity, I just got quotes for this rather snazzy 70 grand Range Rover Sport. (I would buy it of course, but I love my Skoda Fabia too much  :roflanim: ).

Anyhow, fully comp it's coming in at about £500.  Are you sure you didn't put an extra nought on by accident?  BTW, in the past we've insured our Landy with both Lancaster Insurance and Adrian Flux. Both were very competitive and gave good service.

Ditto  :o You must have a very valuable car! (or have lots of points/live in a high crime area)
Specialist insurers can sometimes be astronomical  ;) Try some of the comparison sites - I'm sure you'll be able to get a cheaper quote.

406 is more like it  ;D . Sadly this annual trying it on is the norm, not just  for car insurance but power, phone, just about everything most of us have nowadays. I always use comparison sites. With power &phones it's often good to ring and tell them you're leaving, then suddenly they find they can drop the price after all.

It was in yesterdays paper that all motor insurance has gone up 17% in four months, they are blaming insurance tax.
