Why have I gone through life thinking I wouldn't enjoy Terry Pratchet's books!! I would see them and think, no not for me. A niece gave me one "I Shall Wear Midnight" for Christmas and I just love it!
I will try to collect them all. Don't judge a book by it's cover......??

Thank goodness you have found him devonlady  :excited:  I loved the original paperback cover pictures, but the more recent ones are nothing like as good.  Pratchett is one of the most intelligent and brilliant authors to have lived.  The awful irony of his death is sad in the extreme.  You can read and reread his books and always find something new.   His take on Death (and Death of Rats) is brilliant and funny - shame he didn't believe it himself.
You have years of contented reading in front of you.

I don't usually like 'formulaic' writing, nor am I very good at re-reading books I've read before - there are just so many new books to explore out there. However, we have a number of the Terry Pratchet books on audiobook and I frequently find myself going back to them, they are like familiar old friends to while away the hours while I'm drawing. The Tiffany Aching ones are particular favouties, along with any of the 'Guards' ones (Commander Vimes is brilliant).

I completely agree with you Fleecewife - 'Death' is inspired and you've a universe of new enjoyment opening up in front of you devonlade  ;)
