Pygmy goats for sale Scotland?
« on: September 15, 2015, 10:26:36 am »
Hi everyone,  I have been thinking about getting pygmy goats for a while now and I have spent the last couple of months getting ready. Built suitable fence got a good sized shed etc and done my research but now I need to find somewhere to buy them from! Must be in Scotland and preferably  angus or aberdeenshire.  Does anyone have any contacts?

Try Brucklay on here or Agnes Aitken at the Grampain Goat Club
Our holding has Anglo Nubian and British Toggenburg goats, Gotland sheep, Franconian Geese, Blue Swedish ducks, a whole load of mongrel hens and two semi-feral children.

It will depend if your looking for registered or un-registered stock - the ones sold at Thainstone and Lanark were unregistered.

Most breeders of registered stock have a 'waiting list' certainly for females - most folk kid between Jan and March with kids available once weaned. We kid in Jan so most are away at easter time.

So this is pretty late in the season to find registered girls I am afraid - but it sounds like a lovely home for them once you do find some.

Thanks everyone looks like waiting until next year might be the best option then. Not bothered if they're registered or not as not planning on showing them but I would like two females. Will keep looking

Thanks mojocafa but I think I'll just wait now until next year. Arbroath is handy for me though so I might get back in touch nearer the time. Thanks very much x

There are also couple of breeders dundee -kim falconer, also some perth area, fraserburgh area, gillstar on here methlick area, usuallly spring now for stock for sale. There seems to be little cute pygmys everywhere. Also decide if you prefer horns or disbudded most pygmy breeders leave the horns whilst a couple disbudd- Agnes stonehaven and a breeeder in perth disbudds.

Thanks very much  it Carlisle is a bit far as I only have my car for transport  at the moment and don't have a crate or anything yet. Don't fancy two goats jumping about in my car and I'm pretty sure it would be illegal haha. I'm thinking I'll just wait and get Christmas over with anyway now. Give me a bit more time to get organised too. And the closer the better so now I know there seems to be plenty options closer to home I'm not in a rush as o know I will get some if I just wait it out x

Hope you don't mind me jumping into this conversation, I'm located pretty central Scotland and recently started my wee pygmy family. I bought two female kids and love them. they are in an acre of varied grazing with an upstairs downstairs mansion to live in. As they are too yo :huff:ung to breed I'm looking to expand to try and kee on top of the grass. I would be interested in nannies preferably in kid  to let the family grow. Doesn't have to be pedigrees but must be pygmy. Thanks in advance.
