Anybody used Verm-x wormer
« on: August 23, 2015, 07:23:45 pm »
Has anybody used verm-x herbal wormer, were the results any good.......the reason I'm asking is in the past I've used herbal products which don't work as well.

Many thanks for any replies.

Yes I use it  in between "proper" worming with Flubenvet. Verm-X isn't a real wormer so I wouldn't want to rely on it alone.
I don't know if it works on its own as I use Flubenvet every 4/5 months ( per vet's advice) .
Is it time to retire yet?

It's not a wormer at all. They can't call it a wormer because it doesn't kill worms. It has been proved to be totally ineffectual. Don't waste your money.

Sorry but I'm going to contradict the above. Verm-X works as an intermediate wormer, between proper worming with Flubenvet. It won't tackle gapeworm and isn't totally effective on roundworm. But I suspect it solves the irritation of hair worm because we've noticed an improvement in poos after administration. One worm we did have which I can find no information on (about 2mm diameter and 20cm long coming from green eggs) infested an Orpington. The Flubenvet had no effect whatsoever but they were killed by Verm-X. As a result I've bought some more.

This is how they make their money. By getting people to believe their advertising.

Forgot to mention the tapeworm. Flubenvet is completely useless for that, although they are quite rare in chickens. There are 'unlicensed for poultry' medications that vets will prescribe though and they are both risky and have variable results. We once had a tapeworm infestation in pullets and it was resolved with nothing more than Verm-X. The hens are now 5 years old and there has never been a re-occurrence.
