Smallholders Insurance??
« on: July 25, 2015, 08:54:08 am »
I'm sure this has been covered before but I can't find mention of it...

We have secured a 14 acre Smallholding in Wales.  We move in in September.  Rather than the usual Buildings and Contents Insurance, is there an Insurance policy more appropriate for our needs, that deals with land, a couple of out buildings and a small amount of livestock (nothing commercial, just for our own pleasure)

All advice welcome  :innocent:

I have been fairly happy with https://www.greenlands.co.uk/products/smallholders so far.  The set of coverage they offer was a good fit for me, combining the standard house/home plus the farm aspects.  I haven't needed to make a claim but when I rang them with questions about how coverage worked for a particular complicated situation they were very helpful.  I didn't do a very detailed price comparison with other suppliers, however -- am planning to do so before renewing this year.

Hi, I'll second NFU . I've been very happy with them for a good few years.

Try Bruce Stevenson insurers, they are always cheaper for us.

NFU here ... paid up fast with no questions when trees demolished our poultry houses.

Yep, another vote for NFU here. They definitely won't be the cheapest you'll find but they are very good and won't quibble with a claim. If you're unfortunate enough to need them then they'll be very good.

FUW

They will do a visit and make sure your covered.

Dont bother with mainstream insurance - they will shirk you off when it comes to paying you back if needs be.
