Hi from Cwmbran, Wales

Hi Everyone.
New to the site but love the information and advice on here, which shows its real people and people that have tried and failed or had success and happy to share.
We moved to Wales last year to be nearer to family and the dream of finding a small holding.  At this time our dream has taken a kicking as finding somewhere to rent just seems impossible.
Our dream is to rent a small smallholding to raise poultry and grow veg and have a small orchard.
We had chickens and ducks before we moved to Wales and I really really miss them. I know to most people that sounds daft but they were a joy to keep and had real characters.

Hello and welcome to the forum from Carmarthenshire
We were lucky enough to buy a place here 3 years ago but smallholding property does come up for rent occasionally so don't give up the dream.

 Hi Quirkygirl - I'm not far from you (just outside Abergavenny). Are you looking for a house plus land or just land? I have a smallholding with chickens, pigs, fruit and veg and been going about 2 years now. Will let you know if I hear of anything as know a reasonable number of farmers and smallholders around Aber, Pontypool, Usk etc. In the mean time, if you need a poultry fix you're welcome to come and visit!

Thank you for all your kind welcomes.. It has lifted my spirits and made me more determined to find some where.   It's great to know there are others down my neck of the woods.  :tree: :tree: :farmer:

You're so welcome Diane. I have found that visiting places helped me (still helps me) shape what I want to do. And hopefully it shows what's possible even for a beginner like me. Pigs have been sunbathing today - Nancy the Old Spot had her spots disappear under the mud coating.
