Tb restrictions for keeping calves
« on: May 18, 2015, 09:17:21 am »
Hi all,

I come from an arable and livestock background but not actually had anything to do with the managing of cattle.

The place I now work for would like to see a variety of animals on the smallholding that we run along side the school, id first like to get up to speed on a few grey areas that I am unsure of.
We are in a yearly testing area and intend to buy weaned calves to keep for a few months and then to sell on before they get too hard to handle and manage on our small site.

I have had plenty of experience feeding, rearing and handling the calves that have been on other farms but not had anything to do with the Tb testing side of the job.

Ive spoken to a few people and looked at the Gov. sites but cant seem to find a clear set of rules for the set up we would have.

If anyone has any pointers or links to helpful sites that would be most welcomed.

Anything over 60 days would need pre movement testing before coming to you and again before leaving unless going direct to slaughter if I am right in thinking.
