Starting the mower problems ?..have a look.
« on: December 02, 2014, 07:28:52 pm »
Hi,
I Invented the unit in the youtube video for starting the mower, washer, saw, strimmer after heart surgery. I would appreciate comments on the usability of the unit. - If you're interested, I'm also raffling one unit with funds raised being donated to the World Heart Federation.

Without actually using it, it's hard to say just how easy it is to use.
As someone with a heart condition, I find those pull cords sheer hell, and if they don't fire up first time I've had it.  It looks as if it would be very useful for starting a Mantis, which is something I can then use.  However, a chain saw, big strimmer, or even a mower (big ones run away from me so I have a push-start mini tractor which starts with a lovely ignition switch  :relief:) would be too big for me to use anyway.  But for someone who hasn't lost their basic strength, but just can't pull the darned cords, your invention looks superb Frank   :trophy:

I noticed that you had to use both hands to remove the unit from the mower, which meant you had to let go of the engine stop/run safety bar and the mower stopped. Holding the chain saw would be difficult, but other than that a good invention.

Thanks all for the feedback to date. Much appreciated. I can actually can remove the unit from the mower with one hand - silly of me not to do that in the video. The tri-pod is standard camera tri-pod so that came in handy. That old chainsaw takes a big pull and doesn't have a brake. The starter pull starter unit actually keeps unit the user further away from the blade when starting which is not a bad idea for an old tool like this. :)

I hope to do a 'kickstarter' project next year, where I would be selling a few units. Ideally I need to get some bespoke extrusion fabricated and this would cost a few £'s, hence I would need something like kickstarter to help fund the tooling for the extrusion.

Hi brankif.  Are you in the States?  If so we would be stung for tax to import the device, in spite of the deal including P&P  :(  I'm assuming you are as the raffle is in dollars.

I'm in N.Ireland. (UK). The reason the raffle is in USD is that I on a previous video of an earlier model, most of the views came from USA.
