Hi All,
After a fantastic day at the Smallholders and Growers Festival in Lanark today, I'm feeling even more determined to establish a small (tiny!) holding. My family and I moved 2 months ago to a lovely 2 acre site, with a tiny bit of mature beech woodland, in South Lanarkshire. Other than cats, dogs and degus we keep chickens and are at present on the look out for some goats (the search brought me here). Golden Guernseys are my breed of the day! I also have dreams of a pet pig or two to help rotavate some of the land here. Ducks and bees to be added to the family too. I plan for next year to be a busy year here!

Hello all, what a lovely welcome  :D
And Fleecewife, how exciting, I have passed by your sheep quite a few times!!! Were you at the Smallholders festival yesterday? We were admiring the amazing 4 horned sheep there  :)
We live between Woolfords and Auchengray so not too far away at all.

Hi again Clair

I certainly know Easter Mosshat - 3 of our Hebs used to live there  :sheep: :sheep: :sheep: but were all 2 horned.

Yes, we were at the Smallholders Show - the Hebs were some of ours, a mature tup, a tup lamb and a mature ewe, all four horned.

Please, if you see us around when you're passing, you absolutely must drop in  we love visitors, especially in the afternoons.

That is amazing, what a coincidence  ;D My daughters and I would love to stop by one afternoon!! Just let us know when suits. We are busy much of this week but free most afternoons, except Fridays usually. I have two girls aged 6 and 8 whom we homeschool and I'm sure they would love a visit too
I'm so pleased I joined this forum - we're going on a visit to see some beautiful golden guernsey goats soon too and we've just heard back from a lady who was also at the show, about getting some Cayuga ducks. I'm very excited!!  ;D

 Welcome from sunny Shropshire. I'm all in favour of goats, although my preference is for pure Saanens.

Hello from near Falkirk! I remember you, you were the first person to have a shot at milking at the show! Glad you enjoyed the day, and good luck with the new animals. Let us know how you get on!

Lol, yes I was the over excited adult desperate to try milking a goat  :D I loved it, and it made me even more determined to get some of my own. My eldest daughter love it too - thank you!
